What are electric blinds?

Electric and motorised blinds are different names for the same thing: window blinds fitted with an electric motor that opens and closes the blinds, so you don't have to do it manually.

You can control this motor in a variety of ways, depending on the blinds you have installed. Louvolite One Touch motorised blinds give you plenty of options, which we'll look at below.

Do electric blinds need a power supply?

While the electric motor will need power from somewhere, this doesn't have to be a mains electricity supply. Louvolite One Touch blinds have a rechargeable battery, so there's no wiring required.

Charging the battery takes about six hours and is typically only needed every six months. Some motors are equipped with a small solar panel that can be used to trickle-charge the battery, so this six-monthly charging is not required.

Alternatively if a mains supply is available, hard-wired One Touch electric blinds are also available, which again means no recharging is needed.

What types of blinds can be motorised?

Motorised blinds are compatible with many of the most popular types of Louvolite window blinds, including:

• Allusion
• Roller
• Roman
• Vertical
• Vision

You can also combine Louvolite One Touch motorised blinds with the Perfect Fit framing system, to ensure your blinds fit snugly into the window frame.

How do I control my electric blinds?

Louvolite motorised blinds support a number of different control methods, including:

Remote Control

Dedicated single-channel, 6 or 16-channel remote control with timer function, so you never have to get up to adjust your blinds.

App Control

Turn your smartphone or tablet into a virtual remote control by installing the Louvolite app, which also works with other smart home technology.

Voice Control

Open your blinds with a voice command such as "Alexa, blinds up" when you link your One Touch blinds via a Louvolite Home Hub.

Extra features via app control

The app is compatible with both Android and iOS and gives you access to features not normally available via remote control or voice control.

Among these is multi-room control, so you can adjust blinds throughout your home via a single dashboard.

You can also create and adjust timers and schedules, to suit your routine and/or to make your home look lived-in while you are away.
