Laboratory Technician

Full Time, 38 hours per week
Shift work:
Monday to Thursday: 06.00-14.00 / 14.00-22.00
Friday: 06.00-12.00 / 12.00-16.00

We are recruiting for an Laboratory Technician, based at our Crossley Road site in Stockport.

As our Laboratory Technician you will be reporting to the Laboratory Assistant Manager, to support to our Laboratory Chemist and wider Laboratory team by performing quality control checks. You will also undertake development work related to textiles and chemicals as required.

A very important part of the job is ensuring accurate colour matching and corrections to maintain the quality, which you will be responsible for.

If successful you will complete a three-month probation period.

Main Responsibilities & Duties

• Conduct quality control checks on raw materials.

• Evaluate liquor samples, including viscosity and colour assessments.

• Test uncoated and coated fabrics to ensure quality standards.

• Perform precise colour matching and make necessary corrections to meet quality standards.

• Update and record test results accurately.

• Maintain the Works Order Spreadsheet.

• Provide support in the mixing room as needed.

• Handle and organise fabric swatches.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience in a production laboratory environment.

• Strong proficiency in colour matching and correction techniques.

• Practical experience in textiles or paint manufacturing.

• Competence in using Microsoft Excel and Word.

• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Strong communication and time management skills.

• Ability to follow instructions meticulously.

• Interest in science and laboratory work.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills:

• Familiarity with the X-rite spectrophotometer.

• Knowledge of AX Dynamics software.

• Understanding of Colour iControl software.

• Experience with Dromont software.

• Knowledge of UV-Vis spectroscopy.

• Recognised qualification in textile and colour chemistry.
