in the spotlight:

Analicia Gaudio,
Business Analyst

As we near April 25th, the International Day of Women in ICT, it's a perfect moment to highlight Analicia Gaudio, our esteemed female leader within the IT department. This day carries great importance as we celebrate and champion the inclusion and empowerment of women in the ICT field. Analicia's leadership stands as both an inspiration and a testament to the skills and potential of women in ICT.

Let's seize this opportunity to learn more about Analicia and how she has reached her current position in the company.

When did you start working at the company?

I began my journey at Louvolite a year and a half ago, just a short month after relocating my entire life to Manchester from Montreal, Canada. With six years of experience as a business analyst under my belt, my background lies in the fashion industry. Interestingly, it was during my time as a buyer that I stumbled into the realm of IT. Constantly seeking efficiency, I found myself tinkering with our systems, looking for faster and easier ways to operate. It just happened that the IT department required someone with precisely those skills for a new system implementation project and as they say, the rest is history.

How far have you come since you started?

Initially, my role at Louvolite was that of a business analyst. However, with the support and encouragement of the company, I seized the opportunity to further develop my skills. Thanks to Louvolite's assistance, I pursued and obtained my project management credentials. Now, I proudly serve as both the project manager for our ERP implementation and continue my duties as a business analyst.

How do you feel about being the only female in the IT department?

Entering a new department as a new hire can be daunting, especially when you're the sole woman and adjusting to a new country. However, right from the outset, it felt like the perfect fit. Despite often being the only woman in the department, I've never felt sidelined or undervalued. There's a wonderful dynamic where each of us brings unique strengths to the table, creating a culture of mutual respect and appreciation for diverse perspectives.

What progress have you seen for women in the IT world?

I've noticed a growing trend of women shifting from operational roles to IT positions and it's incredibly heartening. In my interactions with new groups, I consistently encounter at least one other woman involved in IT, coding or web design and it's truly inspiring to witness. The traditionally male-dominated field of IT is gradually becoming more inclusive, as we recognize that women are equally passionate about technology. It's worth noting that some of today's most popular apps, such as Canva, Eventbrite and even Bumble, were founded by women. This progress is a testament to the increasing visibility and impact of women in the tech world.

Are there any changes that you would like to see for the next generation?

I'm excited about the prospect of more women taking on leadership roles, not only in IT but in every field. It's all about creating an environment where women can thrive and make a real difference. Let's embrace this opportunity to empower women and foster a brighter, more inclusive future for everyone.

"Be confident in what you bring to the table"

Lastly, what advice would you give to women who are just starting out?

I would say to not focus too much on who is in the room and be confident in what you bring to the table. That ultimately is all that matters. If you are confident in who you are and what you do, you will inevitably find success in that field
